Government offices and ministries are closed on the national holidays, whether they are religious or secular holidays. These holidays are:
Christmas (Old Calendarists , on January 7), The people celebrate the nativity of Jesus Christ, according to the Oriental Coptic Orthodox Church.
Sinai Liberation Day (April 25) is the holiday where the people celebrate withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Sinai peninsula.
Labour Day (May 1), Self explanatory.
Revolution Day (July 23) is when the celebration of the 1952 Revolution takes place.
Armed Forces Day (October 6), is the celebrating of The Crossing of the Suez Canal by the Egyptian forces during the 6th day of October war.
The country has holidays that can be moved. The date on these holidays will vary according to the corresponding Islamic calendar. Since this is the case, there is no set date. This might be compared to Thanksgiving Day in America (only the varying of dates, not the occasion). It is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November each year, no matter what the date. These holidays are, in the order in which they occur:
Sham El Nessim, or Spring Festival, is celebrated on the Monday which followed the Orthodox Easter.

Ramadan Feast is a religious feast for three days and the Sacrifice Feast is a religious holiday which lasts for four days.
There are many holidays in which the government offices, ministries, and public institutions stay open and they are:
New Year’s Day (January 1), the New Year according to the Georgian calendar, Mother’s Day (March 21), Evacuation Day (Eid el-Galaa) celebrates the evacuation of the foreign troops in 1954. The Flooding of the Nile (Wafaa Elnil) is the celebration of the beginning of the Nile floods and it is celebrated on August 15. On October 21, the Egyptian Naval Day is celebrated and it is the celebration of the destruction of the Israeli destroyer Eilat in 1967. Suez Day/Popular Resistance Day, is the celebration of resistance of local police forces in Suez during the Suez Crisis. The Battle which occurred here is also celebrated on this day. The other holiday which is celebrated by the people is Victory Day, on December 23. This celebration is for the ending of the Suez Crisis.
